Gastronomy in Vorarlberg uses fresh regional produce as ingredients for traditional or creative cooking. International cuisine, Austria's culinary diversity, and the specialties of the Lake Constance region add spice to your culinary experience. Variety, and above all quality, comes first: Vorarlberg holds the promise of fine dining. There is no way getting around traditional specialties such as the national Käsknöpfle dish. In an international comparison, Vorarlberg cheese - some 40 regional brands including the top-grade mountain and alp cheese – and other rural products easily stand the test for quality!

Cheese is one of the main agricultural products in Vorarlberg. The mountain cheese "Bergkäse" is a Vorarlberg speciality, a protected trademark in the EU, and the basis for many traditional and new dishes. Vorarlberg has about 40 regional types of cheese.

- the range of offerings involving cheese includes dairies, Alpine dairies and private cheese makers, farms open to visitors, and natural products produced right on the farm, "Cheese Innkeepers" who offer special cheese dishes on their menus, butchers, bakers, and speciality shops with cheese products, the House of Cheese in Andelsbuch as well as traditional workshops. Alpine Cheese-Making Museum in Hittisau, Apiary and Schnaps Distillery Bentele in Egg, rural whey production with Alpine cheese school at Ingo Metzler's in Egg. In mid September, the Schwarzenberg Alpine Day and Market (with prizes for the best mountain cheese) is the meeting place fpr rural producers, tradespeople, craftspeople, and cheese-makers from the region.
NEW in Summer: Pleasure walking in the Grosses Walsertal biosphere park
A 5-course meal served by the innkeepers of Raggal is to familiarise their guests with the regional produce in an entertaining manner. On a guided walk to 5 inns, one course with a drink to accompany it will be served in each of the five eateries.
Pleasure walks start at 6:30 p.m. on Fridays, the first course being served at Hotel NOVA. Price: € 33 per person (set menu and drinks). Small portions for children at half price (www.walsertal.at).
