Bregenz%2BFestival%2B2010

Winner of the 2009 European Culture Brand award, the Bregenz Festival epitomises the broad and fascinating spectrum of cultural events in Vorarlberg.

In a Strange Land
Life in a foreign land can be a golden opportunity or a crushing penance. For Aida, the Ethiopian Princess taken into slavery, exile brings her agonisingly close to the man she loves but may not have. She and Radames are slaves to passion who can only find their freedom "in der Fremde". As the "death boat" makes its astonishing journey into the heavens they sing "O terra addio" .

Opera on the Floating Stage: "Aida" by Giuseppe Verdi
Aida is one of the most performed operas in the repertoire - a tale of a legendary love stronger than death, and a very modern parable about nationalism, belligerence and hatred of the enemy. Giuseppe Verdi's monumental opera Aida is returning to the spectacular Floating Stage at Bregenz in summer 2010.

Opera in the Festival House: "The Passenger" by Mieczyslaw Weinberg
For Mieczyslaw Weinberg, whose astonishing creativity provides the main focus of our festival programme, exile was both an opportunity and a curse.

Come and join us by the lake, in the theatre, at our concerts - experience the rainbow of music and culture that we offer our thirsty visitors.

On the website www.bregenzerfestspiele.at we invite visitors to compose their own journey to the Bregenz Festival. The new “Festival made to measure” service allows you to book tickets, hotels and individual activities conveniently from your computer at home (www.bregenzerfestspiele.com).

Packages incl. overnight and tickets for the Bregenz Festival are available starting at € 135 per person directly with Bodensee-Vorarlberg Tourismus (www.bodensee-vorarlberg.com).
